Although this year marks the first ever staging of the festival under the Food & Rum Festival flag, its precursor, the Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival, was a hit for five consecutive years, and featured mixologists, international celebrity and local chefs and a lineup of breathtaking venues and settings that made the festival the talk of the town for months after.
However, in this historic year when the island celebrates its 50th year of Independence, the 2016 staging will re-train its focus on the island’s first-class culinary talent, as well as one of the most iconic elements of the island’s culinary culture – rum! The festival kicks off from November 17 and runs through November 20, and the events include a Night Out in Oistins, the island’s premier fishing town and nighttime hotspot; the Rum Extravaganza, to be hosted at the museum of the nostalgic Concorde; and, a beach party aptly named Feet in the Sand to be hosted at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
