Planning a summer getaway? Look no further, Barbados has so much to offer you. With its pristine beaches, azure waters, and vibrant culture, Barbados is the perfect destination to unwind and soak up the sun. Whether you’re from North America, Europe, or Africa (lots of love to Ayra Starr), here’s how to get to Barbados easier and cheaper.

Research and compare multiple booking websites:

Start by visiting a reputable travel website or an airline’s official website. Some popular options include Google Flights, Expedia, Kayak, Skyscanner, or directly visiting the websites of airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, or Caribbean Airlines.

Travellers should take advantage of the advanced search options offered by these booking websites to save time and find the best deals. Filters such as flexible dates, cabin class, and layovers can help you customise your search according to your preferences, making it easier to find affordable flights to Barbados.

Here are some airlines that offer direct flights to Barbados:

International Airports that Fly to Barbados

American Airlines:
JetBlue Airways
Delta Air Lines
WestJet
Air Canada
Norse Atlantic Airways (To launch October 29th 2023)
British Airways
Virgin Atlantic
Caribbean Airlines
Copa Airlines
Condor Airlines

Bahamasair (July 18, 2023, through August 16, 2023)

Cayman Airways (To launch October 18th 2023)

Be flexible with your travel dates

Flexibility with travel dates can significantly impact the cost of your flight. If possible, consider adjusting your travel dates slightly to take advantage of cheaper fares. Shoulder seasons or mid-week departures often have lower demand and can result in more affordable flights. By being flexible and booking early, you increase your chances of finding a great deal in Barbados during the summer period.

Sign up for fare alerts

To stay ahead of the game and catch the best deals in Barbados, sign up for fare alerts on the booking websites you prefer. These alerts will notify you whenever there’s a drop in prices or special promotions for flights to your desired destination.

Consider alternative airports

If you have the luxury of choosing between multiple airports, consider exploring alternative options near your departure and arrival destinations. Sometimes flying into or out of a nearby airport can result in significant savings. For example, if you’re coming from Europe, you could check flights departing from London, Paris, Frankfurt, or Amsterdam, among other major cities.

The service from all the team at Blue Sky Luxury was 5* from start to finish. We were fully supported at every stage from enquiry, booking, pre-arrival and the way through to after we left in a thorough, courteous and professional manner. For this alone we highly recommend Blue Sky and will be back again as soon as we can. Marsh Mellow was a fantastic property for us. It was recommended by Blue Sky based on our requirements and fitted the brief perfectly. The outdoor space and pool are large, open and with phenomenal views – the best sunsets we’ve ever seen! The bedrooms are spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, as are the communal spaces with comfortable furnishings and a well kept garden. We felt safe, relaxed and comfortable throughout our stay and would highly recommend Marsh Mellow. It would be suitable for couples, families or even singles. Hoping we can enjoy another sunset by the pool with a rum punch again soon! Thank you to all at Blue Sky.

In this blog post, we will take you on a journey through the rugged and scenic east coast of Barbados, showcasing its natural beauty and hidden gems. While the west coast of Barbados is well known for its luxurious resorts and calm waters, the east coast is a completely different experience that should not be missed.

The Wild and Scenic East Coast

The east coast of Barbados is a majestic coast with a wild. untamed beauty. While world-famous for surfing, most of the beach is unsuitable for swimming. Locals know where the tide pools are and often relax and watch the fish when the tide is low. One of the most popular destinations on the east coast is Bathsheba, a picturesque village that is home to the famous Soup Bowl – a world-renowned surfing spot. Here, you can watch surfers ride the waves or take a surf lesson yourself.

Another must-visit location is the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, where you can stroll through lush gardens and marvel at exotic plants.

Hidden Gems

While the east coast of Barbados has many popular destinations, there are also some hidden gems that are worth exploring. One of these hidden gems is the village of Cattlewash, a quiet and secluded spot that is perfect for those who want to get away from the crowds.

Here, you can walk along the beautiful beach or take a dip in the natural rock pools. Another hidden gem is the Morgan Lewis Windmill, a historic landmark that is one of the last remaining sugar mills on the island.

The Culture

One of the best parts of visiting the east coast of Barbados is experiencing its vibrant culture. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. Don’t miss out on trying some of the traditional Bajan dishes, such as flying fish and Cou-Cou, or sipping on a refreshing rum punch. You can also learn about the island’s history by visiting St. Nicholas Abbey, a beautifully restored plantation house that dates back to the 1650s, or take a train ride there.

Barbados wins Green Destination Award

Barbados was recently awarded the Green Destination Story Award for environment and climate at ITB Berlin, the largest trade show in the world. This award recognises destinations committed to sustainable tourism and has made significant efforts to reduce their environmental impact.

Barbados is known for its beaches, coral reefs, and vibrant culture. However, like many other island nations, it is also vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including sea level rise, coral bleaching, and extreme weather events. In response, the Barbados government has taken several steps to promote sustainable tourism and reduce its environmental impact to help combat climate change.

One of the most significant initiatives is the Barbados Green Economy Scoping Study, conducted in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The study identified opportunities for Barbados to transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy, including investments in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-tourism.

In addition, Barbados has implemented several policies and programs to reduce waste, conserve water, and protect natural habitats. For example, the island has banned single-use plastic bags, straws, and utensils, encouraging visitors to use reusable alternatives. Barbados has also established marine protected areas to protect its coral reefs, which are critical to the island’s tourism industry and provide essential habitats for marine life.

These efforts have positively impacted the island’s environment and economy. According to a report by the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Barbados saw a 4.4% increase in tourist arrivals in 2019, despite a decline in overall tourism in the region. The report credits this to Barbados’ commitment to sustainability and its efforts to promote eco-tourism.

Barbados’ recent award for its commitment to sustainable tourism is a testament to its efforts to reduce its environmental impact and promote eco-tourism. As travellers, we can also do our part by choosing eco-friendly travel options and supporting destinations that are committed to sustainability.

Congratulations on taking the leap and investing in a property! Rental homes are a long-term investment. If well-maintained, a home will continue producing income for decades. Your new purchase offers passive income and limited maintenance and repairs responsibility. Of course, you also have the freedom of an amazing business opportunity, which over time increases in price.

The First Steps

Now that you are ready to enter the rental market, let us look at how to get you there, stress-free, with competent guidance from our property management team. Having Blue Sky Luxury as your Property Managers brings tangible and intangible benefits. We do more than oversee the running of your property.

Our Property Management team provides responsible management:

We will also provide a monthly expense statement and quarterly manager’s reports. Once you have determined whether you will be renting furnished or unfurnished, we can enroll you to our Blue Sky Luxury group plan that offers the best rates for building and contents insurance. We will complete a Property Manual with a list of certified technicians. Regular scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance visits guarantee that your equipment operates at optimum proficiency. Benefits include extending the lifespan of your home inventory and keeping your home in pristine condition. Once you have secured a rental, we will carefully read the lease to ensure tenants uphold their contractual obligations.

At handover, the water and electricity metres are read, and an inspection is completed with the tenant. Service and maintenance checks are performed. These checks include steam-cleaning furnishings, Air Conditioning maintenance, and servicing fire safety equipment. We document any concerns and provide a copy of the inventory, keys, gate fobs, and equipment operating instructions. This makes it hassle-free for the tenants’ departure.

During a tenancy, we will promptly coordinate and fix any landlord-related tenant issues, inspect the external areas, and coordinate onsite work at the property. We will also schedule an interior inspection to ensure tenants maintain the property as agreed. We will continue monthly monitoring to ensure that rents are collected and utility payments remain up-to-date.

So, what are you waiting for? If you are reading along and are excited about the prospect of being a landlord and this sounds like a suitable long-term investment for you, then take the next step with us, the property management experts.
